App not installed from a valid source

If you are getting the following error:

The app has been installed from an invalid source: Please, uninstall it and install it again from a valid app store.
(Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery)

To avoid piracy, the app must be installed from valid app stores, like Google Play Store or like Huawei App Gallery. Other sources are not allowed. Therefore, if you haven’t installed it from one of those, then, you need to follow these steps:

  • First (optional) do a Backup of you current Sound Profile settings. This way you will not have to recreate your profiles (see more info below).
  • Uninstall the app.
  • Install it using Google Play Store using this link. Or, if you have a Huawei without Google Services, use the alternative store in your case which is Huawei App Gallery using this link.
  • Restore your previously backup (see more info below).

If you have installed Sound Profile using a third party backup app (many Samsung devices has this option) then you also need to uninstall it and install it from Google Play Store.

To do a Backup of your settings follow these steps:

  • Open Sound Profile and tap on the menu
  • Tap on More options
  • Tap on Create backup.
  • If you don’t have the necessary permissions then you will be asked to grant them. Once you grant them, tap on “Create backup” again to finally do it.

To Restore your settings once the app is finally installed:

  • Open Sound Profile and tap on the menu
  • Tap on More options
  • Tap on Restore backup.
  • If you don’t have the necessary permissions then you will be asked to grant them. Once you grant them, tap on “Restore backup” again to finally do it.

  1. Hiya I’ve just installed the app on a new phone. But after restoring from a backup, on Drive, the app crashes and can’t run.

    Any suggestions, please?

    Thanks

  2. Hi there, I’ve been using this app (pro version) for years, and I haven’t done any changes to my device nearly 2 years, now I’m getting this message, and I’m %100 sure that I installed it from Google Play store!
Do I still need to uninstall and reinstall again?!
    Thank you

  3. I just upgraded to a new, more modern phone using Android 11.

I’m a looooong time subscriber to Sound Profile. A favorite app. I don’t want to lose you.

    Dare I uninstall and reinstall?

    1. I guess you upgraded to a new phone and you automatically copied all your existing apps to that new phone. Sound Profile (as a security issue) only allows to run if it has been installed from Google Play.
Do not uninstall unless you are able to create a backup of your custom profiles. In latest Sound Profile version you have the option to create a backup in that same screen (be sure the app is updated to the latest version shown in Google Play). Then, uninstall and reinstall. Once reinstalled open the App menu >> More options >> Backup & Restore >> Restore your previous backup.

  4. Hi! for 2 days there has been a message that the application was installed from an untrusted source. Of course, I didn’t install it recently. It has been working (has been bought) for me for a long time. Back then, it was also installed normally from the Play Store. Unfortunately, the message about unauthorized installation covers the entire application and it is impossible to enter any menu to backup my profiles. What could be done about it so as not to lose settings when uninstalling?
