Lock volumes (avoid third apps to change volumes)

Sound Profile is able to monitor the device for volume changes. For example by pressing the volume side buttons of the phone by mistake.

In this situation Sound Profile will set the current profile values.

To enable or disable this feature follow these steps:

  • Open Sound Profile and tap on the menu
  • Tap on Settings
  • Expand the General Settings section
  • Check or uncheck the option Lock volumes (avoid third apps to change them)
  • Don’t forget to Save

In case you decide to enable this feature you will see a screen like this anytime you accidentally hit the side buttons or an app changes the volumes:

After a few seconds the profile will be reactivated.

Please, keep in mind that the volumes should be controlled only by Sound Profile. Using other apps or changing the volumes manually will make Sound Profile to not work properly, so we recommend to activate this feature.

  1. Strangely, my “notifications” sound doesn’t seem to be locked by this option, as it frequently changes without my input.
In my baseline profile, my notification volume is in the middle, just loud enough that I can’t miss it, but soft enough it doesn’t bother those around me. If I start missing notifications, or barely hear them, I check my current volumes and frequently it is set very low, much lower than my profile volume.
My volume keys are set to only change media volume, so I have no idea how notification volume changes from the profile that is showing in my notification panel at that time.
I thought this setting would fix that, but it hasn’t.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Tom

    1. Please use the Contact Me option in the app menu so I can take a look at your specific settings. In your email, please remind me your issue.
      Thanks

  2. Hi,
I’d like to ask that you have an option to remove “media volume” from the sound locking.
Sometimes I just want to change it for 30 seconds or a minute.

    Thank you

  3. “After a few seconds the profile will be reactivated.” – Is it possible to change the reactivating time? I mean, making it shorter.

    1. Hello

Let me add that to my long Suggestion list.
      Thanks for the idea.
I would suggest you add it on Instagram and let’s see if more users need that. This is the link for Instagram:

It would be good if you also follow that account. This way you would get notified with changes.

  4. First let me say that your app is wonderful. I use several of the features including the geofence which always works wonderfully going into church and then exiting. Something I wanted to run past you is when I connect certain Bluetooth devices I noticed that my notification volume drops. If I’m not mistaken Android has a feature where when you connect a Bluetooth device it diverts back to the volume when you last had that device connected? But what I experienced is the notification volume going down to close to zero.

    1. It seems like your device is protecting your hears with soft notifications. I would suggest three options:
      1. Search in your device settings and find what is doing it. Once found, disable it.
      2. Set Sound Profile to now allow other apps to modify volumes: https://corcanoesoundprofile.ovh/lock-volumes-avoid-third-apps-to-change-volumes/
      3. Use the Tasks & Events feature to force the volume as you want when that device is connected: https://corcanoesoundprofile.ovh/tasks-and-events-part-1/
Please, do that and let me know.

  5. Once or twice a month, I notice the wrong profile is active (ie. Don’t receive calls or texts *=×”_/+%*=$#).
Check settings & the profile times have randomly change, for example, when the Night profile ends – it switches to the “Night” profile. That’s 24 hours of Night mode & a hell of a lot of missed stuff.

Just changwd a setting to: don’t let other apps change. Is that the answer or is there a mischievous leprechaun in my phone?

    1. Hello Miguel

Please, send me your settings using the Contact Me option of the SoundProfile main menu. In that email tell me your issue so I can remember it (I receive many emails from many users).
