Display reminders when activating or deactivating profiles

It is possible to display a reminder when activating a profile, in this way you will not forget to do something you always have to do at certain situations. Let me show you several examples:

When activating profile Night:
Don’t forget to turn off the gas in the kitchen

When activating profile Car:
Check if there is enough gasoline for your trip

When deactivating profile Car:
Hey, don’t forget your phone inside the car

When deactivating profile Home:
Don’t forget to switch air conditioner off and also to activate the Security Alarm

When deactivating profile Car:
Hey, pay attention, remember where you parked!

This remainders will be displayed as a notification and they will beep in your device according to the system settings.

To create these reminders, follow these easy steps:

  • Open Sound Profile and tap on the menu
  • Tap on Edit Profiles
  • Choose a profile
  • Scroll down to the section called “Reminders” and expand it
  • You have two text boxes where you could write the text to be displayed as a reminder.
One text box is to display the reminder when this profile is activated. The other one is to display the reminder when this profile is deactivated.

Remember you could automatically activate profiles depending on situations:

For example, if your bluetooth gets connected to your car bluetooth, you could automatically activate profile Car.
Once it is disconnected, Car profile will be deactivated and the reminder “Don’t forget phone in the car” will be displayed.
For more info, check Task and Events.

For example, if your wifi gets connected to your home SSID, you could automatically activate profile Home.
Once it is disconnected, Home profile will be deactivated and the reminder “Don’t forget to switch Air Conditioner off” will be displayed.
For more info, check Task and Events.

Try this feature and share below your own ideas about displaying your reminders with other users.

Can I change the ringtone used to display the reminder?

Yes, you can change the ringtone played when displaying the reminder. You are also able to override the Do Not Disturb feature, this means that the sound could also be heard even in Silent profiles when Do Not Disturb mode is activated.

To modify this behavior, display a Sound Profile reminder in the notification area. Gently slide the notification to one side until you see a gear icon. Tap on it and take a look at the different options there.

  1. hello corcanoe, I’m having a problem with my read it out loud notification profile it’s just not reading it out loud anymore I’ve tried every setting but with no luck. What should I do

    1. Hey! 😄 Let’s try to figure out why your “read it out loud” notification isn’t working anymore — I’ve got a few things we can check together 🔍

There are two main places in Sound Profile where the app can read things out loud:

      ✅ 1. Reminders (in Profiles)

Each profile has an optional Reminder that can be spoken out loud when the profile is activated or deactivated. To check this:

      Open ☰ Menu → ✏️ Edit profiles

Select the profile you’re using (maybe the one where it used to read out loud).

      Scroll down to Reminders

Check if the “When activated” or “When deactivated” switch is ON ✅

Make sure the Text-to-Speech volume is set (and not muted!)

Try re-writing the message and testing it again.

✅ 2. Battery Level Notifications (TTS)

If you’re using a battery level task to trigger a spoken message (like “Battery at 80%”):

      Open ☰ Menu → Tasks & Events

Make sure the task is active ✅

      Tap the task and check:

That it’s set to speak the reminder

That the TTS volume is set

That you didn’t accidentally change the trigger or time limits

      3. TTS Voice Settings (Global)

      Let’s double-check the global Text-to-Speech setting:

      Go to ☰ Menu → ⚙️ Settings

      Scroll to General settings

Tap “Choose a voice to read messages aloud”

Pick your preferred voice from the list

Make sure your phone’s TTS engine (usually in Android Settings > Accessibility > Text-to-Speech) is working properly too. Try playing a sample to confirm it’s not a system-level issue.

      💡 Extra Tip

Sometimes Android disables spoken notifications if Do Not Disturb is active or if the media/system volume is too low. You might want to:

Check your system Media and Notification volume levels

      Test with DND off

Try activating the profile manually to see if it speaks

If after trying all this it still doesn’t read out loud, maybe something weird is going on 🤔. In that case, I recommend emailing me directly at corcanoe@gmail.com
      with some info about:

The profile or task that’s supposed to speak

If it worked before and suddenly stopped

What phone + Android version you’re using

That way I can check it deeper with you 💪

  2. When engaging any profile I now hear a loud single beep. I used to get a very low key sound, barely audible. The only thing that has changed is an update to the app about 2 weeks ago. When I look at the volume settings nothing is set for that loud. I’ve restarted the phone, no help. Any thoughts? It’s the same for every profile. Thanks. Long time app user.

    1. Yes, sorry. It is a bug. Solved in version 10. Meanwhile please disable the chime in Sound Profile >> menu >> settings >> Play sound when activating a profile.

  3. I get an sqlite database error when I try to set a notification. Wassup with that?
I tried to copy it but text would not select. I took a screenshot of it. Where to send it?

  4. Displayed text in notification should disappear when linked profile is deactivated. As it stands, I must manually dismiss the notification.

    1. Hello Erin
That is the intended behavior. As a reminder for you to do something, it must be dismissed manually and never automatically.
Let’s see what other users think.

  5. My task & events never work. I have profile: if outside home loudest ringtone & WiFi off.

2nd one I did an opposite to that one but no luck. Usually at home my screen brightness is half. When I am out its brightest screen.

BUT none work when I go out or return home.. :(.

    1. Hello

Please, send me your settings using the Contact Me option of the SoundProfile main menu. In that email tell me your issue so I can remember it (I receive many emails from many users).

  6. I use it in Night profile.
When activating Night profile I display “Don’t forget to set your alarm clock”
